around editing 編集を巡る

|||

“around editing 編集を巡る” is a podcast presented by editorial directors Soken Itō and Shintaro Uchinuma.

In recent years, the meaning of the word 編集 (editing) has been broadened to such an extent that it has become difficult to define exactly what it encompasses. Through the podcast, Itō and Uchinuma seek to explore, gather, and weave together the tangled threads of information surrounding editors and the nature of their work.

The character 糸 (thread) forms the left-hand component of 編 (edit or compile). Just as thread binds the spine of a book, editing provides a structure that holds the pages together and helps us navigate the vast sea of information enclosed.

In the designed visuals, enlarged cross-sections of books  intertwine, their lines evoking threads, waves, and brushstrokes. They reflect the two presenters as they attempt to swim through an ocean of information, bind its fragments together, and trace their way to draw an answer.
